still pose

This part took me about a half hour to do. Im having trouble with the diver because she looks so small. I need to find a way to make her bigger. I also found 3 other pictures of a girl running. I was going to have the girl run into the pool dive in and have her come out tan. I am nervous that this might be too difficult and time consuming to do, so I need to play around with it to see where it goes.

Commercial - ChloroTan

Tropic Tanning Oil
I like this commercial because it focus on the woman's body and the lotion. It makes the product seem glamourous and effective. I would make the commercial more up to date and focus it more about the pool not a lotion since my product isn't a lotion.

Sun Tan City
I like this commercial because it is an animated commercial. It is simple yet effective and catches the eye. I think this is something i can do it photoshop but change it to be aimed towards my product.

Tanning Salon
Even though this commercial is cheaply made and kind of cheesy, it is a good idea. It is simple and gets straight to the point. I can use similar ideas like the lady lounging in the pool, and saying some of the similar things that relate to my product.

No more lines
This is more of an infomercial which can be good for my product because people will need to know what it is and how it works. I can make it appealing at the same time to to catch my target audiences eye.

Self Tanner
This commercia is simple, its just picture, music and text. I can do this with just typography and good music and make it appealing. Add some pictures and it will easily explain the product, show it and catch the audiences eye.

Letterhead

I decided to make my letterhead simple but appealing. I kept the color scheme the same as the business card. I think it works well with the type of product and my target audience.

business card

I decided to completely change up my logo and target audience for my product. After getting feed back last week, I decided that this product should be more of a beauty product than a pool product. I decided the target audience should be aimed more towards females. After doing some research, I went with the look of something a tanning salon would do. Now that my logo is changed and my audience is different I think this product will be a lot more successful.

Questionaire

1) What is your business? We make self tanning chlorine for pools.
Why is this important: It’s important to know what the company officially does. That might           sound obvious, but sometimes it’s good to have it laid out there.

2) Describe your business in one sentence: We make chlorine for pools that will safely tan your skin.
Why is this important: This helps to get us closer to the nature of your business, and may also help inspire your slogan.

3) Who is your target audience? Families, Country Clubs, Public Pools, Teenagers, Men, Women, Fitness Centers, Retirement Homes
Why is this important: You need to know whom your brand is talking to. If you’re talking to      children, it would require a completely different visual language than if you’re talking to mothers, teenagers, athletes, bankers, corporate officials, doctors or handymen.

4) Who are your competitors? Blue Wave, Aqua Check
Why is this important: It’s vital to know your competition. You need to know who they are, how they run their business and what makes them successful. If your company is no different than your competition, what would make anyone leave them to come to you? Especially if they’re established and you’re new.

5) What makes them better/worse than your product/service? Both these chlorine companies just make regular chlorine, there is not a product out besides ours that has self tanner in the chlorine.
Why is this important: You need to know what your company is and is not, what you have in common with your competitors and what do you have that is unique? If you see a weakness in their corporate design (such as an ugly website), this is also a place where you can make yourself look better. Also, is their target audience any different than yours?

6) Do you currently have an identity? NO, new company.

7) (If your answer to #6 is no, skip this question)

8) How do you want your image to be seen in two years? We want our company to be seen as a product that is safe for your health and body and is the number one chlorine to use.
Why is this important? This is something that you will have to portray in your corporate identity.

9) If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why? A gold fish, because fish live in the water and they are golden like the tan you would get from our product.
Why is this important? Your company may or may not benefit from a mascot. If it’s for children, a mascot character might be something to consider. But even if it’s for adults, the answer to this question might help generate ideas.

10) If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why? Snooki, because she lives to tan. Having her be the face of our company will show people a safer and easier way to get the tan you want.
Why is this important? A brand is perceived by consumers almost like a person who is representing your company. You trust them, communicate with them through advertisements and purchase, you can be disappointed in them, etc. The corporate identity is the face of that person.

11) If your company/brand was an object, what would it be? The sun because that is what gives you the most natural tan.
Why is this important: Might give you ideas.

12) If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be? The little mermaid because she lives under the sea.
Why is this important? Cartoon characters have exaggerated characteristics.Identifying the general stereotype of your customers might help give you ideas.

Lyric Project

This picture was different from my others because i used more effects than my other ones. This picture represents how the animals in the jungle are all apart of a community but at the same time they all vend for themselves. The animals being apart of the leopard show their unity, but the leopard walking into a different jungle on his own represents him being alone and vending for himself.

Silly

Working with illustrator was very difficult for me. I never used it before so I found it to be confusing. The pen tool gave me a lot of trouble at first and it took me a few hours to complete my project. When I was finished I thought my work turned out pretty well for my first time using the program. Sponge Bob looks a lot a like to the actual picture.

Logo

My logo is for my product, ChloroTan. ChloroTan is chlorine for pools with a self tanning dye put in it. The logo demonstrates how the sun (tanner) is in the water to make a self tanning chlorine. The logo is bright, but simple and demonstrates the idea of the product well. The logo will look good small on a bottle or large on a sign, poster, billboard.

logo critiques

E News is a simple but effective logo since you can easily recognize it. The white E with red background catches the eye. The logo appeals to both men and women, and isn't intended to be too serious, but keeps the news perspective.

Smart Water keeps simple colors that go with the thought of water (white and blue). The word "smart" stands out because of its white font against the blue background. I like the two catch fraises under the water. This logo can appeal to both men and women. Its simple yet fun for a water brand.

Gucci's logo has only one color (black) and its against a white background. The symbol is two G's facing each other. The logo comes off complex, but any one who knows Gucci would recognize this logo anywhere. I think this logo is elegant and really catches the eye. It appeals to both men and women.

Tori Burch's logo stands out because of the color. The orange really catches the eye and the symbol is really cool. If you look closely theres the letters "T" and "B" for her initials. This appeals more to woman because of the design and the designers name underneath.

Grey Goose's logo goes with the name of the product. The lettering is in a blueish grey font and there is a goose over the letter "O". This logo is simple but catchy. Anyone who sees the goose knows it Grey Goose Vodka. This appeals more to men. I think this logo is elegant but also fun. It really brands the vodka and lets people know who they are.

First Day

Hey, I'm Jaclyn Francis from Northern New Jersey. I'm a Junior this year majoring in Public Realtions and Advertising. I've never taken a digital arts class before so I am looking forward to this class. I think this class will be fun because I like showing my creative side and the projects will allow me to do so. Hopefully I can use these skills learned in this class to help with my future career.
